White House Warns China Against Taiwan Escalation

The President of Taiwan is making a “normal” stopover in the U.S.

White House national security spokesperson John Kirby spoke with reporters, sending a public message to China about the Taiwanese president’s upcoming visit to the United States. President Tsai Ing-wen will be making a routine stopover in the United States as part of her series of transits across the globe, touching base with global leaders along the way. She will likely meet with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy during her stopover in Los Angeles.

“The Peoples Republic of China should not use this transit as a pretext to step up any activity around the Taiwan strait,” Kirby told reporters. “Taiwan has the right to communicate with the international community during this process. I hope that the Chinese communists will not overreact.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the Lord to restore peace between Taiwan and China.
  • That President Ing-wen’s meeting with Speaker McCarthy is conducted smoothly and safely.
  • For the Biden administration as they do their best to maintain a cordial relationship with China.
